"In Aimee Bender’s novel “The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake,” the main character, Rose, is disturbed to find she can literally taste the feelings of others in the food they prepare. Rose would have little to fear at Bar del Corso. Every bite speaks of the love and care Jerry Corso and his team lavish on the pizzas and small plates at this homespun Beacon Hill pizzeria and cucina."
Providence Cicero, Seattle Times, October 2011
We cook like the Italians, using what is fresh and seasonal, whether it is asparagus, fava beans, artichokes, and English peas in spring; beautiful heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, local berries, beans and squash blossoms in summer; chanterelle mushrooms, pears, zucchine, butternut squash, and cippoline onions in autumn, or Meyer lemons, Cara Cara oranges, sunchokes, and stinging nettles in winter.

Pizzeria con Cucina
our story (in an oyster shell)
Our little restaurant on Beacon Hill started as an idea back in 2004. After several months of traveling around Italy followed by two years in Washington DC running Obelisk restaurant, and making dough at 2Amys, we returned to our beloved Pacific Northwest and started raising funds, finding investors, and looking for a location in our neighborhood (no small feat). Several backyard fundraising parties later, and with a space secured, we spent six months building it out with the help of family, friends, neighbors and adventurous strangers. We opened our doors on July 15th, 2011.
Since that time so many remarkable folks have walked through our doors, from our dedicated staff, friendly neighbors, lots of friends, plenty of family, and even the occasional local celebrity. We are proud of the food we serve, made with love and care. We select the best produce, meats and shellfish, keep things as local as possible (unless coming directly from Italy) and creating a space for our guests to feel welcome, well-fed and happy. It's a labor of love and we can't imagine doing anything else (okay, maybe sitting in a Roman square sipping Aperol Spritzes). Thanks to everyone who has spent time with us!
